![]() ![]() Hotkeys are a personal thing, but hopefully there are a few moves here you dig. ![]() Every choice is deliberate to match my personal needs. Setting a shortcut Click Record Shortcut, then press whatever key combination you wish to use for triggering PopClip. The crazy thing about hotkeys, is that each hotkey can open up a whole new world of workflow possibilities That said, this is how my personal setup has emerged. Pressing the Esc key will make PopClip disappear without performing any action. It's not really a keyboard shortcut in the strictest sense (first you activate Launchbar with it's own shortcut - then key in sss or whatever you chose/taught lanchbar to use for the built in Start Screen Saver action.) Any other commercial "launcher" product should work as well to activate the ScreenSaverEngine app that is hidden deep inside /System/Library/Frameworks/amework/. You can move the highlight between PopClip’s actions with the arrow keys () and then perform the action by pressing either Return () or Space. I am a very happy user of LaunchBar which allows a quick keyboard only method to start the Screen Saver. Instead I use these three methods: SuperTab quits (and/or hides) selected applications like System Preferences, App Store, and Notebook after they have been unused in the background for a specified amount of time. If youre using an older version of the Mac software (Mountain Lion and earlier), it wont be called 'Keyboard'. Command+Q and Command+H: Quits or Hides the frontmost application. I'd try making a simpler script just to open the engine at the hard coded path if you only wanted to engage the saver. To do this, click the System Preferences icon in your Dock or Applications folder. PopClip appears when you select text with your mouse. I agree with Jason's answer - the only built in way to lock the screen (which sleeps the display but does not engage the screensaver animation) is the shift control media eject shortcut.Ī free solution would be to use RedSweater's product FastScripts to map your choice of keyboard shortcut to call one of the AppleScripts that are floating around the net to toggle the screen saver engine rather than just let the display sleep. PopClip for Mac allows you to have Cut, Copy, and Paste at your fingertips amongst many other features. ![]()
